Custom Hog Shares
At The Ground Market, we believe exceptional pork starts long before harvest. That's why our Heritage Cross Hogs are raised in environments that support their natural instincts while improving the health of our land.
Throughout the year, our pigs spend their days rooting, foraging, and exploring forested landscapes and pasture-based environments. Depending on the season, they are raised in thoughtfully managed silvopasture systems that integrate trees, grazing, and regenerative farming practices. This approach not only allows the animals to thrive, but also helps build healthier soils, increase biodiversity, and strengthen our local food system.
To further enhance flavor and quality, our hogs are finished on a seasonal diet that may include apples, squash, nuts, and other farm-grown foods. The result is richly flavored, tender pork with exceptional texture and character.
We offer Half and Whole Hog Shares as the most economical way to fill your freezer with premium, farm-raised pork. By purchasing in bulk, you'll enjoy a variety of custom-cut pork while directly supporting regenerative agriculture and the farmers who make it possible.
About Heritage Cross Hogs
The Ground at Tabula Rasa Farms works to select a blend of heritage breeds that are best suited to the land. These pigs have long flat backs (great for long bellies of bacon), tall legs with strong shoulders and hams, and long snouts perfect for foraging across hilly pastures and forests. Their meat is fine-grained, well-marbled, and absolutely delicious.
Our hogs are raised on a seed-oil-free diet centered around locally milled, non-GMO, corn-and-soy-free grains, supplemented with organic vegetable and fruit seconds from our farm, along with local hazelnuts, grape pomace, and apples from nearby vineyards and cider houses when available. They also spend their days foraging the Coastal foothills, naturally grazing on grasses, roots, acorns, grubs, leaves, and other seasonal forage. This diverse, species-appropriate diet contributes to the rich flavor and quality of every cut.
